Cora places warm, natural phone check-ins to your loved one. These calls are not automated surveys or robotic prompts. Cora can carry context from past conversations, personal preferences, and details your loved one has shared, so each call can pick up naturally from where the last one left off.

What phone check-ins do

A check-in is a phone call that Kinse places to your loved one on their regular phone. Cora is the voice on the line: checking in on how they are feeling, asking about their day, noting any concerns, and gently confirming medications when reminders are enabled. After the call ends, you can see how the call went in your Kinse home page and on Calendar → Timeline. How many check-ins you can schedule depends on your plan: Essentials includes up to 3 check-ins per week per person; Everyday includes up to 7 check-ins per week. You choose when those calls happen in their local time under Calls → Check-ins. See Check-in schedule for how to add days and times. Outbound phone check-ins need a paid plan. In Settings → Billing you see Choose a plan to start phone check-ins until you pick Essentials or Everyday. Cora will not call until you set a time. Want to try a check-in with Cora in the app first? How it works for your loved one

Your loved one does not need a smartphone, an app, or any technical setup. When it is time for a check-in, their phone rings, just like any other call. They pick up and talk with Cora. That is it.
Your loved one only needs a working phone number to receive check-in calls. No smartphone, no app download, and no account setup is required on their end.

Personalization and memory

Cora builds a picture of your loved one over time: favorite topics, names of friends and family, hobbies, and how they typically describe their day. That memory helps Cora ask thoughtful follow-up questions in future calls rather than starting from scratch each time. The more calls your loved one receives, the more personalized each conversation becomes.

What you see after a call

After each check-in, Kinse updates how the call went on Home and on Timeline. You can typically see:
  • How the conversation went
  • Themes and concerns worth reviewing
  • Medication confirmation status (if reminders are enabled)
If Cora notices signs of distress, confusion, or an emergency during the call, an alert is sent to you immediately. You do not have to wait for the Timeline update. See Alerts for details.

Set the schedule

Add days and times under Calls → Check-ins. Full how-to: Check-in schedule.
If your loved one is more alert at a specific time of day, schedule check-ins then. Conversations tend to go better when your loved one is rested and unhurried.

Check-in frequency

Check-in limits follow your Kinse plan: 3 per week on Essentials, 7 per week on Everyday. If a call is missed or unsuccessful, you receive an alert so you can follow up.
